Advocating for and telling the stories of Inland Empire workers, especially immigrants and those making low wages, is the focus of a new exhibit launched this week.
The Inland Empire Labor Council AFL-CIO, comprised of local union members, unveiled its exhibit “Labor of Love: Our Power is Our People,” on Labor Day, Sept. 2, at a community brunch at the United Domestic Workers of America union office in Riverside.
“Normally the folks that tell the stories of workers are not the workers themselves. It’s always other folks who do the research, tell their stories on behalf of… and half the time they get it wrong,” said Ricardo Cisneros, an executive leader with the labor council. “But here we have the opportunity to have folks in the workforce tell their own stories, from their own words — it’s their labor of love.”
