The honor recognizes CRIISC’s work preserving local civil rights history and offering educational programming across Riverside County.

The Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce will honor the Civil Rights Institute of Inland Southern California with the 2026 Riverside Hero Award at the Mayor’s State of the City Address on Jan. 28.

The award recognizes organizations or individuals who have made significant contributions promoting Riverside at the state or national level. The chamber selected CRIISC for its work preserving civil rights history and offering year-round educational programming throughout Riverside County.

CRIISC serves as a cultural and educational institution dedicated to preserving and sharing the region’s civil rights history. The institute connects residents to local stories through exhibitions, oral histories and community programming.
